In an age where healthcare coverage has become a nationally divisive issue, insurance is becoming more difficult than ever to acquire, and socialized medicine is looming on the horizon, Remote Area Medical (RAM) has proven that there is still hope in free market healthcare. RAM, an organization solely funded by private and corporate donors, travels all over the globe providing healthcare free of charge to those in critical need, but unable to afford expensive medical procedures due to unfortunate circumstances.

Recently, some elements of the right have been pressing the Obama birth certificate issue into the public light. Most notably, a segment on Lou Dobbs has added fuel to the fire by legitimizing their claims in the mainstream media. Chris Matthews featured a segment where Ken Vogel of Politico claims that the libertarian fringe are pressing the issue.
In my estimation however, the birther issue has been more of a Constitution Party issue than a Libertarian one.

Freedom Fest 2009 in Las Vegas was a great outreach event for the Libertarian National Committee. The local Libertarian Party affiliate of Nevada is owed a special debt of gratitude, specifically Nathan Santucci, Debra Dedmon, and Kris McKinster. We received dozens of inquiries and passed out tons of flyers, buttons, and LP bags to attendees who wore our logo proudly during the event.

Health Care Catastrophe
By: Daniel Murdock
Even though working Americans would pay trillions more in additional taxes, Washington continues to press forward with plans for health care reform. There are numerous proposals on how to raise the necessary funds, but Senator Max Baucus’ (D-Mont.) plan to “limit allowable tax free health benefits” has garnered the most attention.

The LP National internship program had an exciting week with outreach at several events around town including the National Taxpayers Union Conference, and Capital Pride. Interns have moved from all over the country to intern at the LP and participate in these events. While mostly focused on local events, they are also providing valuable services to state affiliates who need help with research, and creating flyers and pamphlets for outreach.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Have I said, thank you?
You’re the best, you really are! Maybe the stock market bounce yesterday got everyone in a good mood, because the stock photo drive was a resounding success! I received many wonderful pictures that I will definitely be able to use in videos, pamphlets, flyers, and other promotional materials. I can’t wait to get to work on these photos.

It’s time to pick sides…
While the world watches Susan Boyle lose the top prize and cowers in the wake of the dreaded swine flu, the world financial crisis deepens and worsens. The American people are slowly waking up to fiscal realities as our iconic car dealerships and banking establishments flounder in an ocean of red ink. Everywhere we turn something else blows up, and we can’t seem to find a bottom to the stock market. Prices seem inflated much beyond what government measurements are reporting.
