My Sister's Journey to Dr. Kevorkian

A week before Dr. Kevorkian's death, Dr. Mary J. Ruwart talked about her sister, Martie, who helped shape "Healing Our World" (free download of the 1992 edition at www.ruwart.com), before becoming one of Dr. Kevorkian's early patients. Dr. Ruwart described some startling facts about today's health care which suggest that the unintended consequences of banning assisted suicide may include deaths of patients who otherwise would have lived.

VICTORY! HB 1937 Passes Texas House

From the Libertarian Party of Texas:

AUSTIN, May 16, 2011- On Thursday, May 12 the Texas House passed historical legislation. By a unanimous voice vote, HB 1937 will ban TSA's "enhanced pat-downs" in Texas airports.

This victory is due to the hard work of many concerned Texans. Some made it to Austin for the committee hearing to testify, and many called their Representative to be sure they were in support of HB 1937. Thank you all for taking a stand!!

The Killing of Osama bin Laden

By Lee Wrights

BURNET, Texas (May 3) – It will not be a popular thing to say, but the truth is the truth. I am deeply saddened by the death of Osama bin Laden. His demise is not cause for rejoicing, in my opinion. That is why I am perhaps even more troubled by the spectacle of Americans celebrating and dancing in the street to the chant of “U.S.A, U.S.A,” whipped up into a patriotic frenzy and oblivious to the reality that this was an illegal and immoral act which offends the very values which makes us who we are.

End the War on Dying Cancer Patients

by R. Lee Wrights

Stopping all war is not just something we need to do in the Middle East. It is something we need just as badly here at home. When I say “stop all war,” I’m not just talking about the bombing and fighting overseas; I’m talking about the wars that the U.S. Government wages against its very own citizens. I am talking about how bureaucrats kill Americans, not with guns and bombs, but with laws and regulations.

Military Tribunals Are an Affront to Our Constitution

R. Lee Wrights posted the following article at http://www.libertyforall.net/?p=5752 this morning:

On the day he quietly and subtly begin his re-election campaign, President Obama again demonstrated that he has no intention of upholding the oath he took to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” The president had his attorney general announce that he has reversed his decision to try accused terrorists in federal court, and instead, will subject them to judgment by military tribunals.
