Mayor Jim Suttle Narrowly Survives Recall

OMAHA, NE – January 26, 2011-Libertarian Party of Nebraska Communications Director Randy Eshelman issued the following statement:

"Yesterday, Omaha voters exercised their right to fire, or not to fire in this case, their elected CEO. Jim Suttle remained employed as Mayor after months of petitioning, an administration-led court battle, and still-under-investigation anti-recall group efforts.

Bumbling Omaha Mayor Attempts Chicago-Style Politics as Recall Election Looms

The latest blunder in a string of blunders by Omaha Mayor Jim “I’m not subtle about Omaha” Suttle and his “Forward Omaha” lackeys may impact local charities that help the homeless.  Fears are rising that donations to homeless shelters will dry-up if Omaha citizens blame charities for the Mayor’s attempt to bus, then allegedly pay homeless persons to vote early in the recall election.

Omaha Taxpayers and the LPNE aren’t Subtle about Recalling Mayor Suttle

In what many consider an early Christmas present to residents of Omaha, Judge Peter Bataillion ruled on Thursday the petition effort that gained nearly 29,000 signatures in a 30-day period was done in accordance with Nebraska law and may now move forward with a Mayoral recall election. Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle lost in his attempt to have thousands of citizens’ signatures thrown out due to what he called illegal petition activities. The Omaha City Council has scheduled the recall election for January 25, 2011.

OMAHA, NE – November 28, 2010-Libertarian Party of Nebraska Communications Director Randy Eshelman issued the following statement:

Nebraska after November 2nd

November 2nd came and went with exciting news from all over the country. The electorate rejected overt, big government, nanny-state policies. Nebraska Libertarians are not however, going to hold our breath in the hope that the GOP will magically adhere to minimum government, maximum freedom principles. They certainly didn’t do that under the Bush administration and have shown themselves to be just as susceptible to the “Washington bennies” as their Democratic cronies.
