Libertarian Brendan Kelly gets 17% in New Hampshire

In the September 6 special election to fill a seat in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, Libertarian candidate Brendan Kelly received 17.3% of the vote. Kelly faced both a Democrat and a Republican on the ballot.

Dear Friend of Liberty,

I hope you've had a nice summer and are enjoying a relaxing Labor Day.

The tenth anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy will be next Sunday. I am deeply sorry for those killed or hurt, their friends and family members, and others who have had to deal with the aftermath.

It's impossible to turn back time, but Libertarians have warned for decades that an aggressive foreign policy often creates resentment that may incite terrorism. Our platform states:

Someone answer this for me: how do you not see the parallels in today's political theater with the more startling component's of George Orwell's "1984"?

Among several storyline components in the book, Oceania's government flip-flops between its announcements of being at war with Eurasia and then Eastasia in a matter of a couple months, but no one seems to take notice.

In that three-candidate race, Libertarian Brendan Kelly is the only candidate with experience in elected office.

Libertarian candidate Moellman at 16% in Kentucky

Ken MoellmanA poll released today by Public Policy Polling showed the 2011 Libertarian candidate for Kentucky Treasurer, Ken Moellman, with 16% of voter support.

Among voters who said they did not vote for John McCain or Barack Obama in 2008, Moellman was in the lead at 37%.
