January 4, 2010 was the deadline to file for office for the November 2010 elections in Texas. An impressive 193 Libertarians filed. I think several others had hoped to file, but they missed the deadline. Texas has the earliest filing deadline for the November 2, 2010 elections.

Planning Continues for the 2010 National Convention in St. Louis

It’s not too early to put the 2010 National Libertarian Party Convention on your calendar. The 2010 convention will be held Memorial Day weekend from Thursday, May 27 through Monday, May 31 in St. Louis, Missouri. The Libertarian Party has intentionally scheduled many of the recent conventions on holiday weekends because convention hotels have offered lower rates on those weekends.

LP candidate Joe Kennedy appears on 96.9 "Boston Talks" radio show

Libertarian Party candidate Joe Kennedy was recently on a radio debate on 96.9 "Boston Talks" radio show.  He is contending for the late Edward Kennedy's Senate seat in a special election that will be held on January 19th, 2010.

193 Libertarian candidates file in Texas

Yesterday, January 4, was the deadline in Texas for candidates to file for the November 2010 elections. Texas has the earliest filing deadline of the 50 states.

The LP Texas reports that 193 candidates filed.

There are three statewide offices for which no Democrat filed, meaning that the race will probably be between a Libertarian and Republican. Libertarians filed for those office as follows:

LP Monday Message: Stop Subsidizing Health Care!

Dear Friend of Liberty,

You have probably heard lots of politicians in recent months complaining about "the skyrocketing cost of health care." They wring their hands about how "the United States spends more on health care..." etc. etc.

Their solution? More government, of course.

But why does the cost of health care keep going up so fast? Most other products and services don't have this problem. Food prices don't skyrocket every year. Electronics don't either. What is so special about health care?
