"Time" for change
posted by Andrew Davis on Oct 8, 2008
In case you needed more evidence that the debt problem in the United States was getting out of control (largely thanks to "conservative" Republican presidents), the national debt clock has run out of room.
It is important to note that the "national debt" is not some fictitious figure that the government will one day have to pay. In reality, the government has no money of its own. All of its money comes from taxpayers like you and I. That national debt is our responsibility to pay back, even though Congress spends more and more. One day, that debt will come due, and it will be up to the taxpayer to front this money.
