Barr rises on Digg home page

For those that followed the campaign of Ron Paul, it became routine that any story about Paul or the campaign would soar to the top of of the leading sites for news and information in the online community.  Now, it appears Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party's nominee for president, may also be heading in that same direction.

In less than 24 hours after this article was posted to the Huffington Post, it became one of the top 10 stories on Digg.

This is an exciting development for the Barr campaign and the Libertarian Party because it indicates that Barr may be capitalizing on some of the same forces that made a Texas congressman, "Ron Paul."

LP gets a new MySpace

For those that have gone to the LP's old MySpace account, you may have noticed that it hadn't been updated in, well, a good bit of time. We actually got a number of emails calling attention to this fact.  However, we're pleased to announce a brand new MySpace account that's better looking, more informative and best of all--we'll keep it updated.  So, please, check it out and add us as a friend (our display name is: The Libertarian Party).

McCain, Obama fail on energy

I'd be curious to find out what McCain meant when he said energy conservative "is no longer just a moral luxury or a personal virtue," instead calling it a "critical national goal."

LP vs. CP

We often get emails at Libertarian Party headquarters asking what exactly are the differences between the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party.  The confusion is understandable, especially for party outsiders who are just beginning to look at either as a new political home.  The question of the differences in the parties has become even more frequent as Ron Paul supporters are looking for a new home after Paul's announcement that he is discontinuing his campaign.

Paul tips hat to Barr

Tipping his hat to his former colleague in Congress while rejecting calls to support John McCain--his party's presumptive nominee--Ron Paul had some nice words for LP presidential candidate Bob Barr in a recent interview.  When talking to CNN host John Roberts, Paul stated that Barr represented the values of the Libertarian Party well.

Chasing the Devil

"And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned round on you--where would you hide...the laws all being flat? This country's planted thick with laws from coast to coast...and if you cut them down...d'you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake."

D'Souza's blunder

I celebrated Christmas yesterday with my family back home in South Carolina. While a seemingly innocuous event, my celebration of Christmas may come as a great shock to people like Dinesh D'Souza, because I am what you may call. . .a libertarian.
