On January 6th, Wes Benedict will be participating in a panel discussion on the TSA's new security procedures. The conference is sponsored by the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), and is titled "The Stripping of Freedom: A Careful Scan of TSA Security Procedures."

Congressman Ron Paul praises the Libertarian Party

In a recent interview with ‘The Quarterly Review,’ Ron Paul had kind words to say about the role of minor parties in American politics.

When asked about his run as the Libertarian Presidential candidate in 1988, he responded, “Third parties can serve a useful educational function. I believe the Libertarian Party has done a great service in promoting the libertarian philosophy, and I continue to have many friends and supporters in the Libertarian Party as well as the Constitution Party. I even have some friends in the Green Party.”

LNC Spring Internship Program

The Libertarian National Committee is now accepting applications for our spring internship program. Primarily, the program is focused on expanding communication between the national office, party members, and potential members. This is accomplished by addressing questions about the party platform, participating in grassroots events, and online activism. In addition, interns assist with fundraising, blog writing, research, and administrative tasks.

Libertarian Councilman Doug Burlison stands up for medical marijuana

Libertarian Councilman Doug Burlison has teamed up with his colleague Dan Chiles to educate the citizens of Springield, MO on the facts surrounding medical marijuana use. They have planned an event which will include an expert panel discussion and a screening of the film “What if Cannabis Cured Cancer?”

Intern Blog- LP Attends the Rally to Restore Sanity

On October 30th, Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert and John Stewart held an unusual rally on the National Mall. The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear was a strange mixture of political comedy and commentary. While the specific goal of the rally was somewhat ambiguous in the weeks leading up to the event, we took it as a golden opportunity to interact with thousands of attendees and spread the message of liberty.

 

Elected Libertarian Erik Viker vying for higher office in PA

Erik Viker is the Libertarian Party candidate running for the House of Representatives seat in Pennsylvania’s 85th District. While he is currently running for office, he is also an elected Libertarian serving on the Selinsgrove Borough Council. His campaign has gained momentum and significant press coverage as he fights to break the stagnant two- party system in Pennsylvania.
