Libertarian Passarelli Could Win Ballot Status for LP in Connecticut

Libertarian Paul Passarelli, a local businessman and president of Solar and Thermal Systems Inc., is in a three-way race for U.S. Senate in Connecticut against Democrat Congressman Chris Murphy and Republican Linda McMahon, a former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment.

The seat is being vacated by 2000 Democratic vice presidential nominee, Joe Lieberman, who lost the Democratic primary election for the senate seat in 2006, but won re-election in the general election as a third party.

If Libertarian Passarelli wins one percent of the vote, the LP will gain automatic ballot access in the state for the 2016 election.

In stark contrast to his opponents, Paul Passarelli wants to stop the growth of Big Government and substantially downsize it. “There isn’t a single fiber of my being that would introduce a law that grows government — nor would I vote to support a law that grows government,” he assures.

He’s aligned with Libertarian presidential nominee Governor Gary Johnson’s proposal to cut federal spending by 43 percent in 2013 in order to immediately balance the federal budget.

But the senate candidate views this only as a modest first step.  There are dozens of cabinet-level agencies that need to be cut by 99 percent or phased out entirely, he argues.

“Balancing the budget may not be enough to pull the economy out of the dive before it hits the ground and explodes,” Passarelli told LP.org. He aims to propose a sweeping constitutional amendment that would bar government from providing goods, services or subsidies that the private sector is capable of supplying.

The two old parties and their media allies refused to include Passarelli in any debates. However the Norwich Bulletin posted online an hour-long video interview of him.

Recent polls show Murphy and McMahon running neck and neck with a large number of undecided voters.
