LPO candidates kept off of the ballot

Ohio Libertarian Party gubernatorial candidate and former state legislator Charlie Earl, attorney general candidate Sherry Clark, and candidate for attorney general Steve Linnabary will not appear on the general election ballot next month, because a U.S. District Court judge refused to put them on last week.

“Sad day for voting rights and suffrage in Ohio,” said Ohio LP Chair Kevin Knedler. “This is only one battle in the ongoing efforts for voter freedom in Ohio. This has been going on for 10 years now and I only hope we can resolve this with some common sense solutions.”

Earl, Clark, and Linnabary are being kept off of the ballot because of a petitioning technicality. Retaining ballot access in Ohio depends on the gubernatorial candidate getting at least 2 percent of the vote next month, so the LPO will not be recognized as a party after the general election.
