An open letter to President Barack Obama:

Mr. President, you told America today that a vote for Gary Johnson is a vote for Trump. As it turns out, you were only a tiny bit off.

The fact is, a vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote for the U.S.A. PATRIOT Act, just as a vote for Donald J. Trump is.  A vote for Clinton is a vote to continue the War on Drugs, just as a vote for Trump is.  A vote for Clinton is a vote to continue occupying and bombing other countries, creating enemies and wasting money — just as a vote for Trump is.

A vote for Clinton is a vote for most of the same objectionable policies that Trump supports — and quite frankly, for the same objectionable policies that you supported for the last eight years. In terms of policy, a vote for Clinton is a vote for Trump.

The reality: a vote for Johnson is a vote to reduce or end the War on Drugs, allowing drug businesses to settle disputes in court, eliminating most drug-related violence. A vote for Johnson is a vote to stop meddling in the affairs of foreign nations, reducing enemies and making Americans safer. A vote for Gary Johnson is a vote to end the U.S.A. PATRIOT Act, protecting American dignity and privacy. It is a vote to pardon Edward Snowden, a true American hero.

A vote for Johnson is a vote to eliminate the U.S. Department of Education, allowing more innovative education and ending Common Core. It is a vote to eliminate the Department of Homeland Security and the invasive incursions on privacy perpetrated by the TSA. It is a vote to massively reduce wasteful spending, and to reduce taxes and debt accordingly.

A vote for Johnson is a vote for policies diametrically opposed to those advocated by Clinton, Trump, and you.

Mr. President, if you think I am wrong, that the differences between Trump and Clinton are greater than those between Trump and Johnson, or Clinton and Johnson, you can help prove that. You can sign the petition at www.JohnsonWeld.com/debate. You can let America see who the best option really is, in a fair and democratic debate.
