Union Leader sides with Libertarians in protest of NH court ruling

The Union Leader, the newspaper of record in New Hampshire, voiced its disapproval of a court ruling which struck down a Libertarian Party lawsuit against a new law restricting ballot access.

Adding to the state’s burdensome signature requirement for a party to qualify for the ballot, the new law forbids collecting signatures before January 1 of the election year—rendering it nearly impossible.

“The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire sued, arguing (correctly) that this requirement was an intentionally created hardship for third parties…[it] is an unnecessary impediment to third party ballot access and should be rescinded,” read the Union Leader editorial.
