101 potential candidates file in Texas

Image101 potential candidates have filed to run for office as Libertarians in Texas for the 2016 elections.

The filing deadline was on December 14. Texas has the second-earliest filing deadline for non-establishment parties, behind Arkansas, whose 2016 candidates had to file in early November.

The Texas LP has run over 100 candidates for office in the last several general elections.

Sputnik features LP chair Nicholas Sarwark's comments on violence in Syria

"The focus on which groups are being murdered by ISIS is a distraction from the bigger problem that ISIS is killing people of all stripes," Sarwark said.

Early Christmas gift to LP

Many thanks to Michael Chastain of Austin, Texas for contributing $24,000 to the LP recently. He contributed $4,000 for Oklahoma ballot access plus $20,000 to help finance a major project to distribute door hangers in 2016 featuring the World's Smallest Political Quiz.

North Carolina LP will have 18 candidates on the 2016 ballot

ImageThe North Carolina Libertarian Party will have 18 candidates on the 2016 general election ballot. The filing period closed December 21.

The LPNC will have three statewide candidates, one US House candidate, 12 candidates running for the state legislature, and two running for county commission.

"We must garner 2% of the vote in the Gubernatorial or Presidential race to maintain ballot access", said LPNC chair J. J. Summerell.
