Libertarian Solutions Video Contest WINNER: Elizabeth Brierly

Elizabeth Brierly of San Jose, California is the WINNER of the 2012 Libertarian Nominating Convention Video Contest.  She won 28% of the vote for her video on Your Right of Self Defense. Ms. Brierly wins the $500 cash prize!

Stewart Flood of South Carolina came in Second Place with his short, to-the-point video Why Vote Libertarian.

Geoffrey Neale elected Chairman of National Libertarian Party; Lee Wrights Vice Chairman

Today Geoffrey Neale of Texas was elected Chairman for the National Libertarian Party at its nominating convention in Las Vegas.

Geoff Neale, a software architect, also served as Chairman for the party from 2002 to 2004. He served five terms on the Libertarian National Committee and is a former Chairman for the Libertarian Party of Texas.

WASHINGTON - In response to the abortion restrictions signed into law in Arizona this month, Libertarian Party Chair, Mark Hinkle, issued the following statement:

“Like so many others, Libertarians wrestle with the moral issues associated with abortion.  While our party includes a significant number of people who describe themselves as pro-choice, nearly as many members describe themselves as pro-life.  In my own view, however, there is no conflict: the best way to respect life is to prevent government from interfering with individual rights.
