The Libertarian Party of Alabama is pleased to announce our coalition with Alabama for Our America Initiative, Let Bama Vote, Alabama for Ballot Access Law Equality, and other partner organizations to lobby the legislature to ease ballot access barriers for candidates running outside the establishment parties.

California top-two hearing this Thursday in San Francisco

The California Court of Appeals is conducting a hearing this week as to whether the top-two primary system unconstitutionally harms the voting rights of voters who want to vote for minor party candidates in general elections.

The hearing is this Thursday, January 15, at 9 am. The location is 350 McAllister St., San Francisco, CA.

The case is Rubin v Bowen. 

Two ballot access bills introduced in the VA legislature

Virginia State Senator John S. Edwards (D-Roanoke) has introduced SB 766, to lower the number of signatures for statewide candidates (whether in a primary or in a general election) from 10,000 to 5,000. The bill is similar to legislation that passed in 2013 that lowers the number of signatures for all presidential candidates from 10,000 to 5,000.

Maine LP submits Declaration of Intent to become a political party

The Maine Libertarian Party has submitted a Declaration of Intent with the Secretary of State to become a recognized political party.

The LPME has until December 1, 2015 to register 5,000 Libertarian voters to become a recognized party.
