About the Candidate:

Amanda Swafford was elected in September 2010 to the City Council of Flowery Branch, Georgia.  She graduated from Agnes Scott College and received her law degree from The University of the Pacific - McGeorge School of Law  in California. During her four years in Sacramento, Amanda was elected to public office, serving as a member of the Sacramento County Land Use coalition that studied and proposed recommendations for comprehensive land use reform in the Arden-Arcade area of the county where she lived. Since 2006 Amanda has been employed as a Litigation Manager for the Gainesville law firm of Harben, Hartley & Hawkins

As a member of the City Council, She believes that, for the most part, her municipality should focus on the basic needs of it's citizens along with the budgetary items imposed by mandated requirements of the county, state and federal governments. She additionally believes that her City Council must respond to the economic downturn by holding down its own spending and balancing the existing revenue funds.
