West Virginia legislature passes major ballot access reform

Bill cuts number of required signatures in half

CHARLESTON, W.V. -- With less than an hour to its midnight deadline, the West Virginia General Assembly passed legislation April 11 reducing the number of valid signatures needed on a candidate’s ballot access petition by half.  The bill now awaits the signature of Gov. Joe Manchin.

LNC Chair statement on FY10 budget passage

Indianapolis Libertarians blast GOP-sponsored tax hikes, bailouts

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Senator Luke Kenley (R) and Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard (R) presented the State's plan to bail out the Indianapolis Capital Improvement Board (CIB) today.  Instead of asking the users of CIB properties in Indianapolis to step up and pay their fair share first, lawmakers will be considering a statewide increase of alcohol taxes, ticket taxes, food and beverage taxes, and the Innkeepers tax.

Record number of voters back LP tax approach

Sub-Title: 

Rasmussen poll finds highest-ever number believe tax cuts spur growth

WASHINGTON – A record number of voters agree with the Libertarian Party that tax cuts would help spur economic growth, America’s third-largest party notes Monday.

A Rasmussen Reports poll released March 26 finds 63 percent of all voters now say tax cuts will help America’s economy.  That’s an increase from the 56 percent measured in February and the highest number since Rasmussen began tracking the question in the mid-1990s.

Among unaffiliated voters, the number is even higher – 68 percent.
