Doctors demand Obama apology

Kerr, M.D., a West Virginia Libertarian Party member and a retired doctor with 36 years experience, asked President Barack Obama Thursday to apologize for comments made in his Wednesday night press conference accusing doctors of conspiring to make children sicker for profits.

Libertarians take aim at Sotomayor’s anti-gun stance

Nominee “can’t think” of a right of self-defense

WASHINGTON -- America’s third largest party reiterated its opposition Wednesday to the Supreme Court nomination of federal judge Sonia Sotomayor after the nominee refused to give a firm answer on whether individuals have the right of self-defense.

“Is there a constitutional right to self-defense?” Sotomayor asked when questioned by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) whether or not the Constitution guaranteed him the right of self-defense. “ I can’t think of one. I could be wrong.”

Maryland LP nominates four candidates

(From the Maryland LP) Timonium, MD -- The Libertarian Party of Maryland has nominated four candidates in the upcoming 2010 election.  In the First District, Dr. Richard Davis has been nominated as the Libertarian candidate for Congress; he ran in 2008.  Lorenzo Gaztañaga has accepted the nomination for the Second Congressional district again; he ran in 2008.  In the House of Delegates two individuals have been nominated:  Justin Kinsey in District 5B, and Brandon Brooks in District 11.

With unemployment skyrocketing, Libertarians suggest real stimulus

GOP, Dems debate passing another spending expansion, despite past failures

WASHINGTON -- America’s third largest party Thursday criticized Democrat and Republican leaders in Congress for suggesting that rising unemployment can be solved by passing another “stimulus” government expansion, or by spending current appropriations more quickly.  Libertarians propose an alternate package of tax and regulatory relief that will create the jobs Americans need.
