About the Candidate

I am Jeffrey Garbus. I am running for the soil & water conservation board in Hillsborough county.

I have a degree from an engineering school (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, RPI). I am a successful entrepreneur,  father of four and a husband of  one. I love my country, I love the state of Florida, and I love the Tampa Bay area.

My mission in running for office is to reduce public spending without reducing any necessary services.

Running for office is the beginning of the culmination of a promise I made to myself about 25 years ago, when I received a pay check, and was shocked at how little of the money I earned with my own labor was mine to keep.

As an individual, I look at the national scene, and with great disgust see two major parties operating: One is extremely polarizing, thinks raising taxes is a good idea (have they never studied history or economics?), wants us at the economic mercy of countries that don't like us (who do they think is paying their salary?), and wants to tell us how to feel about it. The other major party is preaching morality and over spending. Both parties are frittering away money that you and I work very hard to create, and are shipping an immense amount of US-generated wealth overseas, to no good effect. And none of them has the courage to stand up and call the great global warming hoax what it is... a bunch of unscientific nonsense.

Both parties seem to be actively pursuing restrictions of our personal liberties, one group fighting the second amendment, the other group most of the rest... We as Americans have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness... without the government breathing down our necks, and telling us what kind of life, how much liberty, and what to be happy about.

At this point of my life, I do not as an individual have the resources or time to make an impact on the national scene.

However, at this time of my life, with two of my children out of college, and my business running successfully, I have the time to put into the community, and to give back  to the area that I've lived in for 10 years.

I make only 2 campaign promises:

1) I will use my scientific and managerial background to be the best Soil and Water board member I can be; and

2) I will apply those same talents to the budget to reduce spending in every way possible.
