About the Candidate
I am the Libertarian Party nominee for US Senate in Virginia for 2008. Libertarians are a combination of conservative on economic issues and generally liberal on social issues. The core philosophy of the Party is that people should be able to live their own lives as they choose, without interference, as long as they do not harm other people or their property. To that end, we call for reduced government spending, lower taxes and real respect for civil liberties. That is the philosophy behind the positions I take on the issues of this election. I believe in promptly withdrawing US troops from Iraq; reductions in federal government expenditures by cutting wasteful government programs; reforming the tax code with a simplified, flat tax; reforming the Social Security and Medicare systems with Libertarian alternatives; and ending federal prosecution of citizens for nonviolent, consensual crimes.
