About the Candidate:
Dr. Ahmad is the recipient of several awards for civic activism and a former President of the Montgomery County Civic Federation. Born in 1948 to Palestinian refugee parents, Dr. Ahmad was raised in Pennsylvania. He graduated cum laude from Harvard in 1970 and in 1975 obtained a Ph.D. in astronomy and astrophysics from the University of Arizona. He is president of the Islamic libertarian think-tank (http://www.minaret.org) and is an internationally sought-after speaker and author of numerous articles on current events. He has been a Libertarian Party activist since 1975, and has served as campaign manager for four Libertarian campaigns including Steve Ziegler’s successful election to School Board in Charles County, Maryland.
