Rupert Boheham
Governor, Indiana
Election Date: May 18, 2012
Location
About the Candidate:
As a small business owner and youth advocate, I have experienced firsthand the effect governmental roadblocks placed in front of our struggling small business continue to have. Too often our elected leaders pass laws and regulations with no real world understanding of the negative impact these changes can have on the daily lives of Hoosiers. As the only candidate that has created private sector jobs and taught young men and women how to create jobs for themselves, I understand the consequences of misguided government policy. At the end of the day, I’m not a career politician I’m a small business owner.
In my first year as Governor, I will focus on three areas for major reform; taxes, education and the criminal justice system.
We need to lower taxes and make the collection and disbursement of them transparent and accountable. Hoosiers cannot afford another $600 million “oops”. We must also make sure that everyone and every business is paying their share, regardless of who their friends are in the Statehouse.
Our children are lacking the skills they need to make it in higher education and in the workforce. This is not the fault of hardworking dedicated teachers or concerned parents. The majority of the blame rests with the importance placed on standardized testing and administrative costs over classroom development. We need to encourage innovation in education, not multiple choice test prep. Life is not multiple choice, it’s an essay.
Brad Klopfenstein
Lieutenant Governor, Indiana
Election Date: May 18, 2012
Location
About the Candidate:
Brad Klopfenstein has been an influential leader in Indiana’s public policy and political community for the past 13 years. His areas of expertise include the alcohol industry, gambling, election law, energy, health care, immigration, media relations and crisis management.

This is shown in his ability to tackle both controversial and mundane issues and deliver legislative success to his clients. Some of those successes include:
- Advocated for and passed expanded Sunday & Election Day alcohol sales for bars in Indiana
- Successfully defeated smoking bans locally in Indianapolis and statewide throughout Indiana
- Organized coalition that legalized pull tab gambling in Indiana
- Built coalition of veterans who support the Keystone XL Pipeline project
- Defeated proposed increases in alcohol and food & beverage taxes
Andrew Horning
US Senate, Indiana
Election Date: May 18, 2012
Location
About the Candidate:
Andy Horning has worked in cardiovascular healthcare since 1979. His book on Stress Echocardiography has been printed in 8 editions and has been used in CME-accredited medical education courses. It was at least partly his work in the heavily, mindlessly, counter-productively legislated and litigated field of healthcare that drove him to reexamine what he’d been taught about the government’s proper role in our lives. That reexamination, and a study of both America’s history and “Austrian School” economics, led him to libertarian political philosophy. He has since earned a reputation as a principled Libertarian activist, writer, public speaker and political candidate. His columns and opinion letters have appeared in over 25 newspapers in Indiana, as well as others around the nation, including the Houston Chronicle, the Wall Street Journal and USA Today.”
Joe Ruiz
US House 2, Indiana

He will graduate with an MBA in December of this year. Both he and his wife have thus far dedicated their lives to assisting those less fortunate. Chard Reid
US House 5, Indiana
Election Date: May 18, 2012
Location
About the Candidate:
I am the only candidate in Indiana's 5th district that will consistently vote to simplify government. This is the year for Hoosiers to stop mindlessly punching straight-party tickets and to start voting according to their principles.
I am the only candidate in the state of Indiana with my own budget proposal. I call it the Road to Reality because it will set America back on a realistic path of sustainable economic growth. My Republican opponent supports a budget that will increase our national debt for the next 28 years.
The Constitution is the foundation of the United States government. In response to the tyranny they faced in Europe, our Founding Fathers crafted the Constitution to protect their economic and personal freedoms. Unfortunately, our current politicians resent the constraints that the Constitution puts on their power, so they have begun to disregard its principles.
Our Founding Fathers firmly believed that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson even went as far as to say that the primary purpose of government is to secure such inalienable rights.
The U.S. must balance the budget immediately to foster long-term economic growth. If you select me to represent you in Washington, I will make it my top priority to cut spending by 25% during my first year in office and to balance the budget during the second year of my first term! Unlike my opponents, I have a detailed plan to reform Social Security, to reduce the long-term costs of Medicare, and to eliminate a plethora of unnecessary government programs. In addition to providing specifics, my plan will actually balance the budget within two years.
Rex Bell
US House 6, Indiana
Election Date: May 18, 2012
Location
About the Candidate:
Rex was born in New Castle in 1952, and has lived within a few miles of that location his entire life. He was raised on a small farm near Millville, the second of eight children of Myron and Phyllis Bell. Rex attended Millville Grade School, and graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1970. After a short stint at Indiana University, he returned home and started his own contracting business in 1974, which he still operates today. Rex is married to his wife Susan and they are the proud parents of three grown children and five grandchildren. Rex writes, “I joined the Libertarian Party because I believe that personal freedom and personal responsibility are what made this nation great. I also believe that abandoning personal freedom and personal responsibility, and expecting the government to provide for our every wish, want and need, will be the downfall of this great nation.”
Bart Gadau
US House 8, Indiana
Election Date: May 18, 2012
Location
About the Candidate:
Public Education - I believe that the education of our children is best left up to parents, choosing from private, free market schooling programs which have to be competitive and show results in order to survive and be profitable. However, if we are to continue with public education, it is necessary for us to eliminate the Department of Education and leave education up to the state and local governments where the citizens of the community have a role and a say in how their children are learning.
Property Taxes/Income Taxes/Sales Taxes - The government has no right to tax something that I own. I have no problem paying my fair share of taxes, but I believe the government should establish a budget for the year, detailing where the money is going to be spent, and where the taxes are going to come from. I also believe that taxes should coincide with how the money is spent, i.e. money spent on road improvements should come from taxes directly related to road travel.
Government Spending - Government spending is ridiculously out of control. Again, the government should be forced to establish a budget each year, detailing where money is going, and how we are to be taxed to pay for each item. If people could actually see where the money is being spent and how much, they would be much more likely to hold government accountable.
Healthcare/Medicare – Government just needs to get out of the way when it comes to healthcare. Once that happens, prices will drop drastically, making it affordable for most people. Others could then be easily covered by the thousands of churches and non for profit organizations, which are better set up to help individuals in their own communities.
Welfare – Welfare is fine, provided it is done by individuals using their own money and resources. The government has no right to take wealth from one person and give to another as they see fit. And let’s be honest, we all know the government does not manage anything well. A majority of the taxes collected by the government to help our citizens is blown on special interest groups, and general government bureaucracy. If taxpayers are able to keep that money, then they can donate as much of it as they see fit, and can allocate it to the individuals or organizations they see fit.

Kim Brand
State Representative, 53rd District, Indiana
Election Date: July 26, 2012
Location
About the Candidate:
I am running to give Indiana voters a choice. My business experience, leadership experience in several civic organizations, engineering education at Purdue and Libertarian philosophy qualify me to ask for your vote. In an election year marred by unprecedented political acrimony, a third party candidate will be more than a vote for 'None of the Above.' Hoosiers are tired of politicians who cling to anachronistic party positions and eschew collaboration. We live in a time of unprecedented complexity and change. Politicians that exploit the electorate's fear and confusion and promise a return to yesterday's bromides aren't just out of touch - they are insulting our intelligence. More importantly: they are wasting our time.
Jeremiah Morrell
State Representative, 54th District, Indiana
Election Date: May 18, 2012
Location
About the Candidate:
Almost every candidate talks about the same issues, jobs, roads, education, transparency in government. But yet it never seems to change...Four years from now, the same candidates will probably be making the same statements. If you want limited government, you need to vote for limited government. These next few weeks are going to be exciting! It might actually happen.

About the Candidate:
I have been a Republican who has leaned libertarian and frequently voted for Libertarian Party candidates, for my entire adult life, until recently. The explosion in the Federal Debt, the Bank Bailouts, the endless wars, the abuses of our civil liberties, and the ideals of the Tea Party movement moved me further towards libertarianism from 2006 until the present. At the state level, I was disappointed by GOP support of the elimination of Township Government.
At the local level I was frustrated by the GOP push for County-wide Comprehensive Zoning, which had been stopped several times before. At every level of government, the GOP proved itself NOT to be the small government party they claimed to be. I realized I could only work for Freedom and smaller government through the Libertarian Party.
I joined the Libertarian Party, worked with the Libertarian Party of Indiana and Rhonda Greene to re-activate the Libertarian Party of Washington County. I’m currently the LPWC Chairman, and the LP candidate for District 1 County Commissioner.
