1998 LP convention moves to larger Washington DC location
It's a classic good news/bad news situation, said LP Projects Manager
Kris Williams, who is coordinating the LP's 1998 National Convention.
"The bad news is that we're moving the convention location,
which required some fast, behind-the-scenes activity to get
everything arranged," he said.
"The good news is that we're now at a larger convention site and a
better hotel, in a more central, downtown Washington, DC location," he said.
Best news
"The best
news is that for most of the attendees, this relocation won't affect you one
bit."
The convention was forced to relocate after the Sheraton Hotel
decided abruptly to close this summer for renovations -- bumping the LP and 33
other groups who had meeting space scheduled, said Williams.
However, the LP quickly rescheduled its convention to the more
spacious DC Convention Center and the Renaissance Hotel,
both located on Ninth Street in downtown Washington, DC.
The new hotel location, prices, and phone number are given in the full-page
advertisement on page 11 of this issue of LP News.
"We've made the move as seamless as possible," said Williams. "All
reservations made at the old hotel have been transferred to the Renaissance,
and those people have been notified. Any current reservation calls are being
re-routed to the new hotel.
In fact, the only thing about the
move that most people will notice is that the new hotel rate is $4 a night lower!"
