Bob Barr Moves Presidential Debate into 21st Century

For Immediate Release Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Barr to Participate in Real Time, Virtual Debate With Obama, McCain at BobBarr2008.com/CounterDebate

Using the latest advances in campaign social networking and Internet communication, Libertarian Party Presidential Nominee Bob Barr will be participating in a real time, virtual debate during the televised debate between Senators Barack Obama and John McCain. Barr’s virtual debate will be streamed live over the Internet at http://www.bobbarr2008.com/counterdebate beginning at 9:00 p.m. [EST].

“This is a chance for Congressman Barr to address the American people and offer his answers to the questions asked in the debate using the latest advances in Internet social networking,” says Russell Verney, Barr’s campaign manager. “It’s important that voters hear all the voices in this election, especially since Republicans and Democrats — on whose watch all of these problems were created — have proven they don’t have the answers Americans are looking for. The advances in Internet communication are making it harder and harder for the two-party system to shut out alternative voices, which American voters are desperate to hear.”

“We’re calling it the Presidential Debate 2.0,” Verney says.

Barr will be delivering an address today at Christopher Newport University at 6:00 p.m. during a campaign stop in Virginia. The virtual debate will be broadcast at 9:00 p.m. [EST] from the university, and streamed live over the Internet at http://www.bobbarr2008.com/counterdebate .
