Libertarian Tanuja Paruchuri explains her views on interventionism.

Promises, Patriotism and Power

While on the trail, candidate Barack Obama promised that he "would revisit the PATRIOT Act to ensure that there is real and robust oversight of tools like National Security Letters, sneak-and-peek searches, and the use of the material witness provision." As president, Obama can't be bound to anything tricky like the Constitution let alone his word.

Liberty Loses a Friend in Memory of Alan Bock

The cause of individual liberty earlier today lost one of its best friends and most vigorous champions, Alan W. Bock. Mr. Bock, 67, died early Wednesday morning at his home in Lake Elsinore, from cancer. He was a senior editorial writer and columnist for the Register’s Opinion section from1980 to 2011.

And, he was a friend to every member of our department, deeply respected for his intellect and eloquent writing, and loved for his generous spirit and unflagging optimism.

VICTORY! HB 1937 Passes Texas House

From the Libertarian Party of Texas:

AUSTIN, May 16, 2011- On Thursday, May 12 the Texas House passed historical legislation. By a unanimous voice vote, HB 1937 will ban TSA's "enhanced pat-downs" in Texas airports.

This victory is due to the hard work of many concerned Texans. Some made it to Austin for the committee hearing to testify, and many called their Representative to be sure they were in support of HB 1937. Thank you all for taking a stand!!
