LP Mentioned on Judge Napolitano's Freedom Watch

Austin Petersen, our former Director of Outreach, and young libertarian Caitlyn Korb discuss the current trends of new media and how it is affecting libertarian politics.  Korb mentions the Libertarian Party, saying, "We've got so much access to knowledge and everybody I know doesn't believe that there is anybody out there can make a better decision for their life than themselves and I think that is where the Libertarian Party really is able to effectively engage this generation."

LP Monday Message: Democrats, Republicans want more troops in Afghanistan

October 12, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

I am disappointed that the Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Barack Obama. That prize should go to individuals who end wars and make peace, not those who make war.

President Obama has utterly failed to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has increased American military involvement in Afghanistan, and appears ready to escalate that war even further.

Which statement best reflects your views on U.S. troop levels in Afghanistan?

Like Democrat Dianne Feinstein, I support increasing troop levels.
1% (68 votes)
Like Republican John McCain, I support increasing troop levels.
5% (347 votes)
Like General Stanley McChrystal, I support increasing troop levels.
22% (1377 votes)
I'd like to stay the course on troop levels in Afghanistan.
3% (166 votes)
I believe we should follow a Libertarian non-interventionist foreign policy, and start withdrawing troops from Afghanistan.
69% (4432 votes)
Total votes: 6390

Libertarians suggest Nobel announcements should be moved to April Fool's Day

WASHINGTON - The Libertarian Party today suggested that, in the future, the announcement date every year for Nobel Prizes be moved to April 1.

"Unlike the gullible people who listened to The War of the Worlds radio broadcast in 1938 and thought Martians really were attacking the United States, when I heard this morning that Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize, I changed the channel in disbelief. But, the same thing was being said in multiple places," Libertarian National Committee Chairman William Redpath said.

LNC interns attend school choice rally

On September 30, 2009, several Libertarian Party interns went to the "Save
School Choice Rally" at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.  The rally
was organized to show support for the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship
Program, a voucher program for residents of the District of Columbia.  If
continued, the program would give parents a scholarship for their
children, allowing them to remove their children from the D.C. public
school system and send them to a school of their choice. However, in

LP Monday Message: LNC members are on the trail

October 5, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

I've been serving as the LP's Executive Director for about ten weeks now. While I do spend some time on visible things like blog postings or writing email broadcasts like this one, I've also spent a lot of my time on unseen things like database improvement and fundraising. I think our staff is making good progress in these areas, and I will have specific numbers to report in the near future.
