LPHQ on the Campaign Trail - Update # 5

Here's the short media advisory we put out for the Smither campaign Monday evening:

According to attendees, the Clear Lake Association of the Retired Teachers Association exhibited heavy applause for Bob Smither while displaying light to no applause for Shelley Sekula-Gibbs today at their forum. Smither and Gibbs are scheduled to appear tomorrow at a forum with the National Association of Pro America. This organization was founded in 1933 by Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt emphasizing the defense and protection of the Constitution. This event is open to the public.

Forum information is provided below:

Wednesday, October 11, 2006 - 10AM
Compass Bank Building, corner of Kirby and San Felipe
2001 Kirby Drive, Houston, Texas 77019
Second Floor meeting room.

Although the key Republican write-in candidate didn't show up, the cameras and quite a few other Republican candidates did. Bob Smither did quite well with his presentation and the Q&A session, clearly outperforming another GOP candidate for the CD-22 seat who did attend. Here are a couple of pictures from the candidate forum:

Reader Comments:

Thanks for the updates and photos Stephen. Bob Smither is campaigning hard and effectively. This is an exciting opportunity.

I live 20 miles from the District, (in neighboring Ron Paul's District). I know this District well. I'm telling you all, it's heavily Republican - 61% and GOPers WILL NOT vote for the dreaded Tax Collector from Beaumont, Nick Lampson. Hyphen-lady has become a joke. Bob could win this thing. It's going to be close.

I credit the National Libertarian Party greatly for targetting Bob's Campaign with support. Cheers to Redpath, Shane Cory, Chuck Moulton, and Stephen Gordon. Good job!

I cover Bob's race on almost a daily basis at www.mainstreamlibertarian.com for those who are interested.

Keep it up, Bob. Men like you need to win. I have an off topic link that you may find frightening, but I don't want to distract you all from this moment.

Eric, Ron Paul, and anyone else with influence should be talking to hypenlady and trying to persuade her to get out of the race and throw her support to Smither.

I know, I know, Creech. You are 100% correct. Ron Paul should come out strongly for Bob. Not sure why he hasn't?

Still, there are a number of Republicans in the District who are supporting him.

If any of y'all have Republican friends in Texas, please take a moment to call them up and urge them to back Bob Smither. Thanks!
