Executive Order Defies Constitution
A few weeks ago, a startling executive order issued by the President was brought to my attention by an LP member, which despite its odious implications got very little coverage in the national press.
However, the San Francisco Chronicle ran an incredible article on the order three days ago, and I've just stumbled across it.
This far-reaching order of July 17 may be Bush's most brazen defiance of the Constitution, which is no small feat for an administration that thinks it can set its own rules on electronic surveillance, torture, kidnapping, rendition, and the designation of "enemy combatants" who can be arrested on U.S. soil and held indefinitely without judicial review.
The article is probably the best piece I've seen written on the Bush administration to date. Also, this is especially important for all Libertarians, as that you could now have all your assets frozen if the Bush administration considers your donation to our party to be a violent action taken against the war in Iraq.
You can read the full article here. To read the executive order, click here.

Uh-oh... there go Ron Paul's presidential campaign contributions. Seriously, though: who will determine what's "violent"?
"The blacklist would be drawn up by the "secretary of treasury, in consultation with the secretary of state and the secretary of defense."
The targets of the property seizures, even American citizens, would not be given any advance notice or opportunity to challenge the government's action in court."
Oh... the government. OK, then I can feel fluffy comfortable :-)
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
My achin' Christ, folks!..anyone not a god-damned Republicrat fool ought to be able to conclude that 'the constitution' has been a DEAD LETTER for a lOOOOOOOOOOOONG time!..
(I feel sometimes like donny and marie are running the show here!) ;o)
Anyone want to put money on the issue as to wether there will be an election in 2008. King George did say that he will be the president until we win the war on terror.
Just some food for throght.
I'm just annoyed at the media's and president's tossing around the word "terrorist." A more fitting label is "religious fanatic." Why are so many people unwilling to call a spade a spade?
If they called them religious fanatics it might draw attention to the religious fanatics in America. We call them Bush supporters.
Clark said, "My achin' Christ, folks!..anyone not a god-damned Republicrat fool ought to be able to conclude that 'the constitution' has been a DEAD LETTER for a lOOOOOOOOOOOONG time!.."
Well, not as long as copies survive and people actually take it seriously. Of course, it would be ideal, were the people in our State and national capitals among those who took it seriously, but that problem can be corrected. If, on the other hand, the Constitution dies in the hearts and minds of the people-at-large, you'll be completely correct.
Has the Constitution died in YOUR heart and mind, Clark?

In a sense it is dead/in limbo as its authors are dead..Largely remaining is a document not one in a hundred, imo, has even spent much/any time considering..a document most don't/can't even comprehend..(the government school tools have made many a fool) Let's face it, Republicrats and decent folks too..
Btw, good writing. I believe some of the reasoning in the Con. is timeless, true. Some isn't. But I wouldn't have signed it. Would you?
I think maybe the government employees at the government schools have been 'polishing the knob' of government/politicians for a looooong time..It doesn't seem unreasonable to me that government/politics have always tended to attract the worst sort of richardhead..including and maybe especially "The Founding Fathers!".. ;o)
I think if a non Libertarian read the Libertarian blogs to see if the ideas represented a group of people who could effectively run the country.. the answer would be no. The basic ideas of the Libertarian party are fantastic. Everybody wants freedom whether they know it or not. If a free people use military might to force freedom on a people who don't have it.. a couple of generations later they will thank the people who forced it on them. In so many places today if freedom is not forced the fanaticism will go on and on and on. It will get worse (as it is taught to the young) with no end in sight.
If all the free nations joined forces with America and told the dictators, the fanatics, the holy warriors (who want to force there madness on us with military might) we are coming to get you one at a time. If this was done in the true name of freedom.. we could have a free world in a relatively short time.

YIKES!! Look at what the Kneel Boor 'Libertarians' bring to the LP table!
I have yet to find one lousy Republicrat cheerleader for this STINKING War on 'Terrorism' who will DEFINE 'TERRORISM' in black and white..
It seems any honest definition of 'terrorism' points the rotten finger right back at Donald 'shock and awe' Rumpsfelt, etc. Republicrats ad nauseam..
Submitted to Digg. It would be a lot easier to do that if you installed the Digg icon on the blog, though (more info on that in the "ever watching eyes" thread). :-)
