The Libertarian Party 2016 presidential and vice presidential nominees will appear on the ballot in Tennessee this November, as the Secretary of State confirmed the petitions on July 15.
The Tennessee LP needed to submit at least 275 valid signatures by August 18.
Nominees Gary Johnson and Bill Weld will appear on the ballot as Independents, as to get on the ballot as a party would have required a petition effort of 2.5% of the last gubernatorial vote, almost 34,000 valid signatures. No party in Tennessee has successfully completed the petition for party status since 1968.
Gary Johnson and Bill Weld will now be on the ballot in 36 states.
