Johnny Isakson Receiving Campaign Support from Socialized Medicine Champion, Mitt Romney

ATLANTA, GA – September 17, 2010 – It is interesting for the Donovan campaign to note that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney will be coming to Georgia to support Johnny Isakson’s bid to be reelected as U.S. Senator.

Governor Romney pushed forward Massachusetts’ socialized medicine bill, better known as “Romney Care”.  Health care insurance premiums are now rising faster in Massachusetts than in any other state.  Following Romney Care enactment, the number of doctors and other medical providers in the state has significantly decreased.  Many Massachusetts patients hoping to make a health care provider appointment face the longest waiting periods in the Nation.  It isn’t rationing, but to people like Chuck Donovan’s parents, longtime residents in Massachusetts, it certainly feels like it.  Chuck’s parents know better than to miss appointments they often have to make more than three months in advance.

Governor Romney will be in good company as he spends time with Senator Isakson.  Isakson has shown his support for socialized medicine with his vote in favor of expanding Medicare Part D.  The approval of this unfunded mandate has been referred to by former Comptroller General of the U.S., David Walker, as “…the most fiscally irresponsible piece of legislation since the 1960’s.”  Senator Isakson has done nothing during his ten years in the House and the Senate to address the financially unsound Medicare program, except to vote to expand it.
