Hiring 20 paid petitioners urgently – interested?

Libertarians, we’re hiring and paying $3 per signature in Illinois, $2.50 in Pennsylvania, $2.50 in Connecticut, and need volunteers in Ohio too, right away!

There are no donation links in this email (for once). Only instructions on how to get hired.

Some of the work may last until September.

I need to hire a lot more people ASAP, to collect ballot access petition signatures to get our candidate for President (whoever is chosen in Orlando Memorial Day weekend) on the ballot in all 50 states. We’re on the ballot in 32 states so far, and need to get on in 18 more. We’re behind where we hoped to be at this point. Some states are easy, but 7 or so are very hard and expensive. Some states we can’t start yet due to the rules there.

You need to read this entire email and follow the instructions if you are interested in working, because I’m not going to have time to read the replies to this email. I’m sorry. We are overrun with emails to info@lp.org lately, so I need you to follow my special instructions. This is also a test of your ability to follow instructions.

We haven’t been able to hire enough people so far this year to get the job done.

I’d hire 20 people today if I could find them and get them setup in the right states with instructions and paperwork.

We need more people. Some NEW people. Maybe some college students who just finished classes can help for the summer.

Maybe you’re retired or unemployed. Maybe you have a job you’re about to quit anyway, or a job that you can take a temporary leave from, and you’re willing to take a petitioning job for a month or so. Petitioning is tough work, and most people get discouraged and quit after one day, so don’t quit a job you’ll regret leaving. But if you help me out, at least you’ll be working for a cause that you care about, getting the Libertarian candidate for President on the ballot.

Maybe you think you don’t want to petition for money simply because you feel like you don’t want to take the Libertarian Party’s money. Guess what? We need you to get the signatures and take the Party’s money–before we miss our deadlines!

The experience of collecting petition signatures is a lot like you might imagine. You get a clipboard or two, put the form on the clipboard, and go around asking people to fill it out. It’s not rocket science.

You collect signatures wherever you can find people on public property, like in downtown areas, outside driver’s license offices, outside courthouses, on public sidewalks, or outside libraries. Sometimes you can petition on or around college campuses or in front of grocery stores if you can get permission. Sometimes you can find festivals or events that will allow you to petition either inside or outside of them.

A problem is that around half of the people you ask will not want to sign the petition, and some others won’t be qualified to sign the petition because maybe they’re not registered to vote.

I need 20 good self-starters who won’t wimp out after day one. You have to let people tell you “no”, suck-it-up, and move on to the next person. You can’t let a string of 10 “no’s” in a row get you down. If someone tells you to leave their property, you have to move on. It’s not worth your time to argue, and we do not have time to bail you out of jail even if you think it’s your Constitutional right to be somewhere.

“Good petitioners can collect anywhere from 10 to 30 signatures per hour or more,” says Bill Redpath, depending on the circumstances. It’s up to you. You can earn up to $2,000 per week or more if you work hard and long hours. One petitioner collected 500 signatures at one festival in Oklahoma last year. But that kind of success is rare. You need to buckle down and spend hours on your feet asking anyone and everyone to sign.

States willing to work in:

We only pay a per signature rate. No advances. We don’t cover any expenses. You pay your own gas, travel, hotel, meals, photocopying expenses, postage, etc. Some petitioners team up to save on motel expenses or find housing through Airbnb. Others petition in their home state and avoid housing costs. Others find friends willing to let them crash for free for a few weeks. You have to find your own lodging.

You’ll be an independent contractor. Additional rules and restrictions apply. This is not a contract, but you may be asked to sign one and provide information for a W9.

If you want to really impress us, go get a FULL page of signatures on the proper form as a volunteer. Scan or take a photo of the filled out form, and send it to us showing you are absolutely ready and willing to do the job and get paid.

You can find immediate information on these petition drives below, and feel free to bypass Bob Johnston and Bill Redpath altogether if you’d like. Click on the state for details.
