LP Monday Message: Here's how to Run for Office

November 9, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

I want you to run for office.

Thanks from Libertarian candidate in Virginia

From Virginia Libertarian candidate Matt Cholko:

As you probably know by now, our campaign received 3.14% of the vote yesterday. I tried hard not to set any specific goal for electoral performance, but I can safely say that we did better than I was thinking that we would. Of course, no matter how well we would have done, all of us would have liked to do even better. Fortunately, with the skills and knowledge gained through this campaign, I believe that everyone involved will be in a much better position to succeed in the future.

November 3 election results for Libertarian candidates

These are partial results for Libertarians who were candidates in the November 3, 2009 elections. We will post more results as we learn them.

Chris Neill, running for Mayor of Marietta, got 14%.

Richard Segal, running for City Council in Douglasville, got 41%.

Jeffrey Sexton, running for City Council in Leesburg, got 22%.

Kellie Weeks, running for School Board in Gainesville, got 32%.

LP Monday Message: Help us Oppose Health Care Plan

November 2, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

The Republicans had control of the federal government for years, and they used their power to greatly increase the size, scope, and burden of government.

Now the Democrats are in charge and they're doing it too. Their health care plan currently in the works is a serious threat to liberty.

More Bailout MADNESS!! Are you fed up enough to run for Congress?

I can't believe Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner wants to hand out billions more bailout money to GMAC!

And who knows if we'll be able to stop the Obama government health care takeover? We couldn't stop Bush and the Republican Congress from passing the $400 billion (later $1.2 trillion!) Medicare drug plan.

Are you mad enough to run for Congress as a Libertarian yourself? I hope so!

LP Monday Message: Libertarian candidates on November 2009 ballot

October 26, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

This coming November 3 is Election Day in many places throughout the U.S. Since it's an odd-numbered year, there are relatively few races. Nevertheless, dozens of Libertarians are on the ballot for various positions.

Matt Drew in North Carolina runoff

Libertarian Matt Drew is running for city council in Durham, North Carolina. He placed second in a five-way primary on October 6, and will appear on the November ballot.

According to the Durham Herald-Sun:

LP Monday Message: Democrats, Republicans want more troops in Afghanistan

October 12, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

I am disappointed that the Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Barack Obama. That prize should go to individuals who end wars and make peace, not those who make war.

President Obama has utterly failed to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has increased American military involvement in Afghanistan, and appears ready to escalate that war even further.
