LP Monday Message: Who's the top elected Libertarian?

July 11, 2011

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Who is the highest-level partisan elected Libertarian in America?

Based on population, it's Ed Coleman, an at-large Indianapolis City-County Councilor.

He's up for re-election this November and he needs your help. You can donate to his campaign here.

I donated $100 to his campaign last Saturday.

Flat Taxes Won’t Restore Our Global Competitiveness by William F. Shughart II

LOGAN, Utah—Over the past decade or so, China’s policy of export-led growth has triggered double-digit economic gains, leading some commentators to predict that the Chinese economy—already second-largest in the world—would soon eclipse our own.

Meanwhile, beginning with the popping of the real estate bubble five years ago, the United States slid into recession. Although the National Bureau of Economic Research found that the slump ended in June 2009, the recovery has remained weak, with unemployment still hovering around 10 percent.

Libertarians: Casey Anthony gets off easy, just like Congress

WASHINGTON - Libertarian Party Chair Mark Hinkle released the following statement today:

"A lot of people feel like Casey Anthony got off easy. I feel the same way about our members of Congress.

"These folks violate their solemn oath to uphold the Constitution on a daily basis. Most of them deserve to be kicked out of office for life -- but instead, they get praised by the media, by the special interests they cater to, and others. And of course, they get to enjoy cushy government jobs.

LP Monday Message: Independence Day

July 4, 2011

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Happy Independence Day!

I hope you're having a nice holiday, and I hope you'll have a moment today to stop and remember the significance of Independence Day.

Living in Washington, DC gives me the opportunity to see some of our nation's historical landmarks quite often. This weekend I visited the Arlington National Cemetery which includes the Tomb of the Unknowns. This evening I'm planning to watch the fireworks display at the Washington Monument.

How libertarianism can fix what's wrong with America by John Stossel
