Capital Freedom dissects the AIG issue

Libertarian economic blogger Meredith Jones points out the real source of greed in the AIG bonus hubbub -- government interference in the market.  Had government stayed out, AIG would have simply declared bankruptcy, restructured its business, righted itself and the court would not have allowed the bonuses to be paid.  But once government arrived with mountains of taxpayer cash, executives simply helped themselves to your money, citing their contracts with AIG.

Libertarian Sundwall Faces Rivals In Times-Union/WMHT Debate

NIVERVILLE, NY -- Libertarian special election congressional candidate Eric Sundwall will be included in the debate sponsored by the Albany Times-Union www.timesunion.com and WMHT on Thursday, March 19th at 7:30pm, according to campaign manager Richard Cooper. As of now, Republican candidate James Tedisco will not participate. This Friday, Sundwall will appear on WMHT's "New York Now" program. Also on Friday, WMHT will make available the debate on their website www.wmht.org.

Why government should stay out of the business of business

Remember last year when the automakers came crawling to Congress for a taxpayer-funded bailout, and lawmakers demanded they be forced to make more hybrid cars because that's what people want?

Well, that turns out to be another great example of why Obama, the Democrats and the Republicans are wrong when they tell private businesses what to sell.

And if American automakers do go out of business, throwing millions into unemployment, it will be because of government.

It’s been a busy two days for Barack Obama. What has been his biggest achievement so far this week?

Forcing wounded veterans to pay for their own medical treatment

Libertarians ask, ‘What is Obama ashamed of?’

LP knocks Obama for breaking more promises in a secret signing ceremony

WASHINGTON – America’s third largest party asked Wednesday why President Obama enacted the $490 billion FY09 omnibus spending and its over 8,500 earmarks behind closed doors, and despite campaign promises to end earmark abuse.

“President Obama’s decision to hide from the media while signing this bill isn’t just a violation of his promise of transparency, it’s an attempt to avoid questions about breaking another promise to end earmark abuse,” said Libertarian National Committee Communications Director Donny Ferguson.
