Kerry McKennon has officially won the Libertarian Party’s nomination for U.S. Senate and will represent the party in Texas’ highest-profile contest in 2020.
Over the weekend, the Libertarian Party of Texas finalized its nominees for the general election at the state party’s convention in Big Spring. McKennon was selected to represent the party in Texas’ U.S. Senate race against Republican incumbent John Cornyn and Democrat MJ Hegar. Meanwhile, Libertarians also selected Matt Sterett as the party’s nominee for Railroad Commissioner.
Additionally, party members finalized the nominations of several candidates to appear in statewide judicial contests for the Libertarian Party. All of the nominated candidates for the Libertarian Party will join the Libertarian presidential ticket of Jo Jorgensen and Spike Cohen on the ballot in Texas.
