Arkansas passes bill moving up primaries and candidate nominations

ImageThe Arkansas Governor and legislature last week passed a bill to move up the dates of the primary from late May to early March. The bill also moves the deadline for new party petitions to this September.

The Arkansas Libertarian Party is in the process of petitioning to become a recognized party. If the petition is approved, due to the new law, the party will have to nominate it’s 2016 candidates this November.

Before the bill was passed, the LPAR had to nominate it’s candidates by the first business day in March of the election year.
