Joel Davis, a member of the Paden City Council in West Virginia, was elected Mayor on June 2.

Mr. Davis received over 70 percent of the votes, with 225 votes to his competitor’s 96.

The seat carries a term of two years.

“Councilman Joel Davis’s election as Mayor of Paden City (W.V.) shows that conscientious Libertarians can win local office by promising voters transparency, attentiveness, and accessibility,” said Michael Wilson, LP West Virginia State Chair. “One needn’t promise ‘goodies’ to buy votes; what it takes is leadership and a record of civic participation.”
