Libertarian National Party to Host Ballot Access Symposium in Washington, DC August 19th

Event Panel Addresses Crisis for 3rd Parties Under New, Restrictive Requirements

Washington, DC, August 7, 2023 — The Libertarian National Party will host a critical symposium focused on the current crisis in ballot access for third parties in the United States. The Ballot Access Symposium will take place August 19th from 7-9pm at the Washington Hilton. The event, which will be moderated by noted political activist and speaker Larry Sharpe, will welcome in several political parties including the Libertarian Party, People’s Party, Constitution Party, and independents. Additionally, two-time Chairman for the Libertarian National Committee, and candidate in Illinois for U.S. Senate Bill Redpath will speak. Attendees will be invited to network with like-minded groups and individuals before and after the event in a casual environment.

Speakers at the event will include:
• Angela McArdle, Chair of the Libertarian Party
• Nick Brana, Leader of the Movement for a People’s Party
• Jim Clymer, Chair of the Constitution Party
• Diane Sare, Independent US Senate Candidate
• Moderator, Larry Sharpe
• U.S. Senate Candidate / Former LNC Chair Bill Redpath

The difficulties for third parties in the United States to gain traction in ballot access, debate access, and media access are well documented. Strategies for overcoming these challenges will be discussed, however a more pertinent issue will also be raised. The newly implemented standards for signature collection and recognition, which were implemented following fraud allegations after the 2020 election cycle amount to a crisis facing third parties. These new measures assure that third parties will have a vastly more difficult, timely and expensive task.

“The state forces onerous ballot access restrictions on us because it knows we threaten their stranglehold on American voters,” said Libertarian National Committee Chair Angela McArdle. “We’re coming together to peel back that stranglehold and give the voters a chance at better representation.”
