For Immediate Release:

“Heroes don’t always wear masks. Sometimes they make them,” Libertarian Party Executive Director Daniel Fishman said when commenting on the amazing 28 day 24-hour shift worked by the employees at the Braskem petrochemical plant in southeastern Pennsylvania.

43 employees voluntarily worked 12 hour on, 12 hour off shifts to produce an estimated 40 millions pounds of the raw material that is need to make personal protective equipment desperately needed by the heroes who do wear masks — front line healthcare providers.

Socialism is defined as “When the government controls the means of production.” When Donald Trump invoked the Defense Production Act, and ordered private corporations to do the government’s bidding, he created the purest form of socialism seen in the United States since the last draft.

The Libertarian Party directly opposes socialism in its Economic Liberty plank “The only proper role of government in the economic realm is to protect property rights, adjudicate disputes, and provide a legal framework in which voluntary trade is protected. All efforts by government to redistribute wealth, or to control or manage trade, are improper in a free society.”

As such the Libertarian Party calls for The President to honor both the Constitution and hard working Americans and to end his invocation of the Defense Production Act.
