2018 Libertarian Party Annual Report

2018 Libertarian Party Annual Report

Dear Libertarian,

I want to share with you our 2018 Annual Report. You can download and view it here.

Here are some highlights:

  • Our voter registration is up 92% over the last 10 years.
  • In 2018, we had 833 candidates on ballots in November. This is an increase of about 40% compared to 2016.
  • In 2018, 54 Libertarians were elected to office. This is an increase of 59% compared to 2016.
  • This includes a mega win by Jeff Hewitt, the newly elected county supervisor in Riverside County, CA. Jeff’s district has a population larger than 15 different states and an annual budget of more than $5 billion. This is arguably the Libertarian Party’s biggest electoral win ever.

We finished 2018 with some debt, after we stretched during campaign season to make the most of our opportunities. So, in this first quarter of 2019, we worked hard to pay off that debt and we have now paid off all of our non-mortgage debt.

Speaking of our mortgage, we have now, as of this month, paid off 78% of the building and 63% of our mortgage on our modest but nice headquarters in Alexandria, Va. Over the past few years, we have built up some substantial equity and saved a lot of money on rent by owning this building.

Thank you to the many thousands of Libertarians who have pitched in throughout the election cycle to help fund our growth.

You are …

  • recruiting candidates, training candidates, and put them on ballots.
  • building a custom database to help make state parties more efficient and effective.
  • helping build our brand and reach out to voters.
  • helping put our 2020 presidential nominee on ballots in all 50 states.

And so much more.

Thanks for all that you do. I hope you enjoy our 2018 Annual Report and relish our progress. Please continue to partner with us in 2019 as we prepare for both the 2019 and 2020 elections.

In liberty,

Lauren Daugherty
