Nevada Libertarians help stop taxpayer funding for new stadium

LP NevadaNevada Libertarians helped prevent the forced taxpayer funding of $115 million toward a new private soccer stadium in Las Vegas, at a meeting of the City Council last Wednesday.

LP Nevada Chair Brett Pojunis, Vice-Chair Jason Smith, and Outreach Director Jason Weinman each spoke at the council meeting against taxpayers being forced to pay for the stadium.

“Libertarians [stood] strong in the face of the united brotherhood of using tax money to get paid”, Smith said. “One union member after another told of how they would have work if only the tax money was spent on this waste of a project; without regard for less fortunate taxpayers, the inflated price tag, how over-budget city projects tend to be, and how little actual enjoyment the community paying for this would actually get from it.”
