The Charleston Gazette-Mail, the daily newspaper of the largest city in West Virginia, endorsed Libertarian John Buckley for Secretary of State on October 20.

“The secretary of state is a relatively small office, but is in charge of overseeing state elections and registering businesses. Those are two big responsibilities, and should not be taken lightly.

“That’s why the Daily Mail endorses John Buckley, a Libertarian, in the upcoming election. Buckley, of Hardy County, is a retired lawyer and served time as a lawmaker in Virginia. He’s familiar with policy-making and has some ideas on how to improve elections in West Virginia. As a third-party candidate, he would take the job seriously and not allow politics to influence his decisions.”

Mr. Buckley is the second statewide Libertarian candidate endorsed by a large daily newspaper. Mark Miller, running for Railroad Commissioner in Texas, has been endorsed by the largest daily newspapers in the state.
