Candidate for U.S. Senate
The Roanoke Times has called for Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Robert Sarvis to appear in the upcoming candidate debates in Virginia.
Currently, only the Republican and Democratic candidates will be allowed to participate.
The newspaper writes:
Just how much power should the federal government have to sweep up everybody’s phone records? Neither major party wants to say much about that. What trade regulations should we have? Libertarians want more free trade than either party is willing to go for, so this might be a good time to talk about the trade-offs there. It’s one thing to say the other party has the wrong ideas on what to do in the Mideast, but a Libertarian who says the U.S. shouldn’t be involved in the first place might, just might, force both candidates to be more specific about what we should do.
