Election updates for November 2017

Libertarian Party candidates are on the ballot on Nov. 7 in Connecticut, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.

(6:30 p.m. ET) Jim Turney wins a seat on the Altamonte Springs City Commission (nonpartisan race). He was unopposed (see story).

(8:40 p.m. ET) With 80% of the precincts reporting in the race for Governor in Virginia, Cliff Hyra has 1.1%.

(10:00 p.m. ET) Greg Perry elected Rome Township Auditor in Pennsylvania.

(10:15 p.m. ET) Cliff Hyra has over 29,000 votes (1.1%) with 99.6% of the precincts reporting in the Governor’s race in Virginia. In the House of Delegates races, Will Hammer has 745 votes for 2.8% (20th district), Jake Crocker has 1,926 votes for 6.8% (69th district), Terry Richard Hurst has 2,841 votes for 14.6% (89th district), and Michael Bartley has 675 votes for 2.8% (94th district).

(10:45 p.m. ET) Bill Russell receives 6.5% of the vote and finishes third out of five candidates for Mayor of Norwich, CT.

(10:55 p.m. ET) Charlie Gers has 1,188 votes and finishes fifth out of 17 candidates in the race for Mayor of Minneapolis, MN (99% of precincts reporting). Chris Holbrook finishes sixth out of 11 candidates with 654 votes for Mayor of St. Paul.

(11:00 p.m. ET) Jennifer Moore elected Auditor of Upper Providence in Montgomery County, PA.

(11:20 p.m. ET) More elected Pennsylvania candidates: James Fryman, Victory Township Supervisor (Venango County), Demo Agoris, Houston Borough Council (Washington County), Jerry Geleff, Exeter Township School Director(Berks County), Jason Aucker, Spring Township Auditor (Snyder County).

(11:30 p.m. ET) With 98% of the precincts reporting, Peter Rohrman is fourth of seven candidates with 8,568 votes in the race for Governor in New Jersey.

(11:55 p.m. ET) Zachary Elliott was elected to the Coconut Grove Village Council in Florida.

Wednesday, November 8

(12:22 a.m. ET) With approximately 85% of ballots counted, Michelle Darnell has 5,474 votes (32.2%) in her race for Washington State Senate, District 48.

(12:55 a.m. ET) In the special election for U.S. House of Representatives in Utah (3rd district), Joe Buchman finishes fifth out of six candidates, with 2,372 votes (2.2%).

(10:00 a.m. ET) Kevin Cline elected to the Long Beach City Council in Washington with 58% of the vote.

(10:05 a.m. ET) Three Washington LP candidates receive over 40% of the vote in their respective races: Paul Addis, Kent City Council Position 2 (45%); Ed Pace, Spokane Valley City Council Position 4 (41%); James Blair, Yelm City Council Position 7 (45%).

(10:40 a.m. ET) Christopher Nance elected to the Carthage Town Commission in North Carolina. Finishes third in a 4-way race with 19.8% of the vote (top three elected).

(11:55 a.m. ET) Two more Pennsylvania Libertarians elected: Eleanor Russell, Houston Borough Judge of Elections; Jake Towne, Lower Nazareth Auditor and Judge of Elections.

(12:50 p.m. ET) Michael Hoak finished second in a three-way race for Perry County Coroner in Pennsylvania with 25.2% of the vote, ahead of the Democrat candidate.

(4:55 p.m. ET) In Michigan, Andy LeCureaux re-elected to the Hazel Park City Council, with 794 votes (19.1%) in a seven-way race for four seats; Gregory Creswell has 334 votes (3%) in a three-way race for State Representative,  District 1 (special election); and Scotty Boman has 3,945 votes (39%) in a two-way race for Detroit Police Commissioner, District 4.
